According to StatsCan, 1 in 2 Canadian women have experienced physical violence since the age of 16, 67% of all Canadians have personally known at least one woman who has experienced physical/sexual abuse, but only 30% of abuse is ever reported. Alas, this does not include financial, emotional, or psychological abuse.
Abuse, neglect, or isolation of seniors
In 2014, more than 9,200 people 65 years and older were victims of police-reported violent crime in Canada, and a family member was the perpetrator for more than one third of these. But, financial abuse is still the most common form of elder abuse in Canada, and isolation one of the most prevalent hidden issues.
